Hailing the theme "Women First, Prosperity for All" of this year's Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) in Hyderabad, young women entrepreneur Devita Saraf has said the mindset of the Indian society about women entrepreneurship was a challenge.

"One of the challenges of the Indian society is that we do not think of women as entrepreneurs. So for a young person to wake up and say I want to be an entrepreneur, I think that is the first step. I would have loved to see more women who are first generation entrepreneurs address the subject talking and addressing about how they set up their businesses," Saraf, the founder and CEO of Vu Television, said on Wednesday.

She also said that the GES was a fabulous platform for women entrepreneurs where there was an immense networking opportunity and stories to draw inspiration from.

"It is not only India but the whole world is watching and India is addressing this very important subject of women entrepreneurship," she said.

Saraf, whose brainchild is the homegrown luxury TV maker Vu Technologies, is ambitious to expand the reach of the 11-year-old brand and take it to Europe and the USA. She also wants Indian companies to take forefront in innovation and high-end technology and establish themselves as brands which are recognised throughout the world.

"In India there is a little inertia; we are pretty much the IT backend of the world. But unless we are not the ones who are coming up with path-breaking innovations, we will always be the second son," Saraf said, adding her company was looking to expand the horizons in innovation.
