The Sharjah police has launched an investigation into the death of a 22-year-old Indian student in Al Bardi, who was found hanging from a rope in her bedroom.
The Eastern Region Police received a call from a police officer on Sunday claiming that a young woman's body of Indian nationality had been brought to the hospital by her father, who claimed that he was shocked to see his only child hanging in her bedroom, Gulf News reports.
The student's father has been taken into police custody, the report added.
According to the police official, the dead woman was brought to hospital with traces showing a rope had been tied around her neck.
An autopsy will be conducted to establish the cause of death of the young woman, who was a student at a Fujairah college, the report said.
