Nearly 23 years after it was founded, the India-Bangladesh Joint Enclave Exchange Coordination Committee is set to be dissolved after July 31 midnight as their task is finally done with the implementation of the historic Land Boundary Agreement (LBA), which marked an end to the four-decade-long stalemate.
Established in 1992, the committee was tasked with carrying out functions pertaining to the exchange of enclaves between India and Bangladesh, reported The Daily Star.
Diptiman Sengupta, a leader of the committee, confirmed the development, adding that they have been planning to form a joint human rights body after the committee is dissolved.
Meanwhile, all enclave dwellers will light 68 candles at every yard of their houses on July 31 midnight to celebrate their independence, Sengupta said.
He added that a two-hour long documentary, featuring Joynal Abedin, a youth of Moshaldanga enclave, as the protagonist, will also be shown at the time.
Over a hundred representatives from home and abroad are expected to join the programme, Sengupta said.
