England fast bowler James Anderson is likely to miss the fourth test against Australia and possibly the remainder of the Ashes series after suffering a side injury during the third Test being played at Edgbaston.
Leading wicket taker Anderson had to leave the field after bowling three balls of his ninth over in Australia's second innings of the third Test with what appeared to be a side strain, Sport24 reports.
Former cricketer and now commentator Ian Botham feared that if Anderson had suffered from intercostal strain, then he would be pulled out from the series.
Anderson claimed six wickets on Wednesday as he helped England to bundle out Australia for a paltry 136 on the opening day of the third Ashes Test at Edgbaston.
Anderson returned figures of 6-47, the fourth-best figures of his Test career, while Stuart Broad and Steven Finn shared four wickets between themselves.
