England has gone into Ashes denial as it prepares to hand back the urn, believing it can bat for the best part of two days to save the third Test and keep the series alive heading into Boxing Day as also suggested by Stuart Broad.

According to News.com.au, injured seamer Stuart Broad, who was waiting on MRI results on Sunday night after an x-ray on his right foot proved inconclusive, refused to concede the series was gone.

Broad's right foot was crunched by a brilliant swinging yorker from Mitchell Johnson, trapping him lbw, and he is likely carrying a small fracture, the report said.

He will not bowl today but has not ruled out batting if the tourists are in a position to pull off a miraculous draw on day five, the report added.

Australia will resume Monday on 3/235, with an already impregnable lead of 369 runs with two days remaining, the report further said.

He said that England has had numerous Tests over the past four years that they have managed to save when they have had no right to save.
