Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has confirmed that midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is all set to miss the rest of the club's season due to return of his knee injury.
Schweinsteiger was restricted to make only 31 appearances for United due to injury-plagued season at Old Trafford since joining on a three-year contract from Bayern Munich last July.
Commenting on Schweinsteiger's possibility of playing for United, the Dutchman said that it seemed to be difficult for the midfielder to play this season again, but said that he hoped to see him recovered to play the next season, the Guardian reported.
Van Gaal, however, believes that the Germany captain could still make it to this year's European Championship, starting from June 10.
The 31-year-old midfielder had earlier suffered a similar kind of injury during a training session with Germany before an international break.
