Veteran South African players Dale Steyn and Jacques Kallis have reportedly been released from the team's one-day international (ODI) squad for the third ODI against Pakistan taking place at SuperSport Park on Saturday
A statement released by Cricket South Africa (CSA) said that Steyn is nursing a mild left side strain, while Kallis is recovering from a badly sprained joint to his right small finger sustained in the first ODI in Cape Town.
According to Sport24, South African team manager Dr Mohammed Moosajee said that they have taken pre-cautionary measures by releasing Steyn and Kallis from the third ODI squad so that the duo can enter the series against India in prime condition since they both will play a key role in both the Tests and ODIs.
Moosajee further said that this would also give the coaching staff an opportunity to try out a few players who have missed out during the series.
