Australian fast bowler James Pattinson has been ruled out of the remainder of the Australian domestic cricket season due to recurrence of shin soreness.

The 25-year-old, who had missed the first Test against New Zealand, sustained a recurrence of injury during the second Test.

Confirming the news, Australia team physiotherapist David Beakley revealed that Pattinson had underwent scans following the Christchurch Test and that the result had shown some inflammation around the shin consistent with bone stress,Sport24 reported.

Beakley insisted the pacer would require some time to recover fully from injury and, therefore, would not feature in the remaining of the domestic cricket season.

Pattinson displayed a brilliant bowling in the second Test, claiming six wickets overall to help his side claim a 2-0 Trans-Tasman series win over New Zealand.
