Danish golfer Thomas Bjorn and South African Richard Sterne have both reportedly withdrawn from the US Open Championship on Wednesday due to injuries.
Bjorn has reportedly been battling neck and shoulder injuries while Sterne is rehabbing an undisclosed injury and both would not be healthy enough to play at Pinehurst.
According to Fox News, Bjorn, who had played the last two US Opens at Pinehurst and missed out the cut in 1999 and tied for 52nd in 2005, has been replaced in the field by amateur Andrew Dorn, who was the first alternate from the Springfield, Ohio sectional qualifying site.
Including this year's Open, Bjorn has reportedly not played six times and missed the cut twice in the last eight US Open championships.
Meanwhile, Sterne, who has played the US Open once in 2008 and missed the cut, has been replaced in the field by Scott Langley, who was the first alternate from the Memphis, Tennessee qualifier, the report added.
The U.S. Open will kick off on June 12, with England's Justin Rose defending his title at Pinehurst No. 2, the report further added.
