Expressing disappointment for not being able to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jammu and Kashmir MLA Engineer Rashid today said that India was proving Pakistan's Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah's two-nation theory right.

The independent legislator from Langate, who was attacked with ink outside the Press Club of India here yesterday, said this is not the India of Mahatma Gandhi anymore.

"Mahatma Gandhi gave his life for communal harmony. And now, you are planning to commemorate Nathuram Godse and place him parallel to Bhagat Singh," Rashid said.

"I wanted to meet the Prime Minister. He kept me waiting for three hours. He did not even bother to send anyone from the office to apologise for this," he added.

Rashid further said that the incident justified Jinnah's two-nation theory.

"Jinnah had given a two-nation theory and now India itself with its actions is proving the theory right. We thought Jinnah's theory was wrong, but after attacking the minorities, you are proving it right," he said.

Less than a fortnight after he was attacked by the BJP MLAs in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly for hosting a beef party, Rashid was attacked by Hindu Sena activists who blackened his face with ink here yesterday.

Meanwhile, Pakistan's High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit has rubbished reports stating that he would be meeting Rashid.
