Normal life was disrupted in several parts of north India as the cold wave continues unabated even after a week of snowfall in the hills of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
"The cold is intense. Even after wearing lots of warm clothes the cold is very severe. During the day, at around 11 am or 12 noon it is little warm but otherwise we sit around the fire to keep ourselves warm," said Inder, a resident of Shimla.
Even the plains are reeling under severe cold with dense fog reported from most parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh during mornings and evenings.
The heavy fog has left people stranded at the Moradabad railway station as the train service has been disrupted.
"It is very cold today. I am shivering even after wearing three sweaters. Even the fog is very dense because of which the trains are also running late," said a resident from Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad.
The cold gripped even Agra with the minimum temperature hovering around four - five degrees Celsius, which has reportedly led parents of the school going children to demand that schools be closed.
