Dutch investigators have recovered more human remains from the MH17 crash site in eastern Ukraine after searching an area that was previously inaccessible, the Netherlands has said.

Jean Fransman, a spokesperson for the Department of Justice, said that human remains and personal effects were found at two sites, reported News24.

After the search operation, which had been halted for winter, resumed on Thursday, investigators combed through Petropavlivka, about 10km west of Grabove, where most of the debris fell.

The area was previously inaccessible to the search team because of fighting between pro-Russian separatists and the Ukrainian army. However, investigators were able to resume the operation after clashes slowed down since a ceasefire took effect in February.

Last year's search too, had yielded human body parts, personal belongings and the wreckage of the crashed plane. The remains of all victims, but two Dutch, have been identified.

The Malaysian Airlines flight, carrying 298 passengers and crew on-board, was shot down last year by a surface-to-air missile over war-torn eastern Ukraine.
