The Pakistan government has reportedly been given a deadline of December 1 by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Olympic Council of Asia to resolve its differences with the country's Olympic board.
The IOC decision was made during a meeting at Switzerland, which also involved IOC member Syed Shahid Ali, the Federal Secretary to the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination Faridullah Khan (representing Pakistan government) and a delegation of the IOC-recognised Pakistan Olympic Association (POA).
According to the Express Tribune, an IOC release said that the body would review the composition of the POA before December 1, 2013 and ensure that the membership of the POA consists of National Federations affiliated to their respective International Federations, as per the Olympic Charter.
The statement further said that it was agreed that no one would challenge the composition of the POA upon the completion of the process, adding that all parties will act strictly within the framework of the existing structure.
