Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Thursday said that the IPL is an important aspect of Sunanda's death probe, though not the whole story.
"IPL is a very important aspect, not the whole story but an important aspect. I have written a letter today to the Home Minister that Delhi Police is not equipped to do an investigation into the money laundering aspects and the sleaze of the IPL. So, the SIT team should be expanded to include directorate of revenue intelligence, enforcement directorate, RAW and IBA. I think these four agencies should be brought in so that a detailed investigation is done and once for all cricket can be cleaned of prostitution, money laundering, fraud, cheating, all kinds of sleaze that has plagued the IPL," Swamy said.
"Today, I saw it in two newspapers, two English dailies; have said that the police has confirmed that the SIT is in fact examining it. According to this information which has not been confirmed, I usually take two three sources to accept this, so I am not able to confirm it. The moment I do I will go to the press and tell them. The fact is that there was something very mysterious. The Close Circuit TV analysis has not been made available to anybody; it was suppressed by the police for some time after Sunanda's death," he added.
"I will only say according to my sources and I am not confirming this yet, till the police come out and give a statement that she had left the hotel, a car had come to pick her up and she came back after an hour. Now, this needs to be looked at that where did she go. There was evidence that the same car sighted at the Lutyen's area. So, we need full fledged investigation on that and the SIT's job is to look at it," he added.
Earlier this week, Shashi Tharoor was interrogated at the Vasant Vihar police station in South Delhi. According to media reports, he was asked over 50 questions by a team of four officers in the first of three likely rounds of interrogation.
Earlier this month, the police had said that based on available evidence, Sunanda Pushkar, 51, was poisoned. A case of murder was registered on January 6.

Sunanda Pushkar was found dead in the five-star Leela Hotel in Delhi on January 17, 2014.
Sunanda was married to Tharoor for a little less than four years. It was the third marriage for both. Before her death, Pushkar had publicly accused Tharoor of having an affair with a Pakistani journalist Meher Tarar.
Initially, her death was debated as a possible suicide for months, and it was only this month, that a murder theory began to be considered seriously after doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) maintained that her demise was unnatural.
Tharoor has been demanding that the investigation must be "free of political pressure or a pre-determined outcome.
