Union Minister of Human Resource Development Smriti Irani today dedicated to the nation syllabus and course material for class VIth to Xth prepared by NCERT and training modules for teacher education programmes at the level of Diploma, BEd or MEd degrees prepared by NCTE on yoga.
Inaugurating the two-day national conference for yoga teachers at New Delhi, she said that the marking system for yoga should contain 80 per cent practical and 20 per cent theory component.
The Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, present on the occasion, said that Government of NCT of Delhi would extend its fullest co-operation in implementing the programme.
Swami Atmapriyananda, Vice Chancellor of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University in his keynote address on the occasion said that yoga is meant for holistic development - a complete approach to personality development. Secretary, School Education and Literacy, Dr. S. C. Khuntia in his address spoke of equanimity which means to be able to maintain a balance under any adversities in life.
The conference is being organised as a part of the brand celebration of International Yoga Day which was observed world over on June 21.
The conference will discuss yoga for holistic development, need of yoga for specially abled children and best practices in yoga.
