Iran's President Hassan Rouhani arrived in Islamabad on Friday to hold talks with the Pakistani leadership on improving relations and strengthening economic ties between both sides.
The Iranian President was on his arrival accorded a warm welcome by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif,reports Dawn.
The visit is particularly significant in the wake of the lifting of sanctions on Iran that has opened new avenues for enhancing trade and commerce cooperation between the two countries.
The visiting dignitary will hold talks with both President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Sharif on Saturday.
The Iranian President would also discuss cooperation on regional and international issues during his two-day visit.
A high-level delegation comprising of ministers, senior officials and businessmen are also accompanying Rouhani on his first visit to Pakistan.

Rouhani would also speak to a gathering of Pakistan's prominent scholars and intellectuals on Saturday.
Sharif visited Iran in May 2014 and in January this year to try to ease tensions between Tehran and Saudi Arabia.
