United States intelligence agencies suspect that Islamic State militants are luring young western females with the promise of paying cash to fight in Iraq and Syria.

A professor at the centre for terrorism and security studies at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, said that they are targeting young women in a predatory manner like young children are targeted by child sex abusers, reported the Daily Star.

Some girls are lured through social media and a glossy magazine 'Jihad Cosmo'.

Three Somali families in Minneapolis had reportedly vanished from the district while police in the U.S. were trying to trace women they fear have been enticed by the IS militant group.

A woman aged 19 from Colorado admitted last week that she had attempted to travel to the Middle East to join the IS extremists.

She was arrested at Denver International airport in April.

Professor Bloom also said that these girls were promised cash for every child they bore.
