A deputy leader of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), Fadhil Ahmad al-Hayali, has been killed in a US airstrike in Iraq, said the White House.
Hayali was second in command of the group, according to US officials, the BBC reported.
The officials said that he was killed in an attack on his car in Mosul in northern Iraq, adding that it would ruin ISIS operations.
A number of ISIS leaders have been taken out by US-led air coalition strikes in both Iraq and Syria in recent months.
