Mukul Roy on Saturday refused to comment on his removal as party general secretary of the All India Trinamool Working Committee (AITMC), and added that it was West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's prerogative to form a new committee.
"It is a prerogative of the party to constitute and reconstitute and the power lies with the chairperson. It is an ad-hoc committee," he told media here.
"She thinks it is fit and proper to form a new working committee. It is her prerogative. I have no comments," he added.
Earlier in the day, Roy was relieved from his position.
This move comes days after Roy had been removed as the leader of the TMC in the Rajya Sabha. Subrata Bakshi has been appointed as the new general secretary in his place.
Roy had recently been under the CBI scanner for his role in the Saradha chit fund scam.
