Zack Snyder hinted on Saturday that Batman and Superman - two of the world's most popular comic superheroes - are set to meet on the big screen for the first time.

The 47-year-old film director said at the Comic-Con event in San Diego that a crossover movie is soon going to be in the pipeline.

Snyder then declined to reveal more details about the project, and told the fans that the script was currently in the process being written.

Warner Brothers later confirmed that it would be the first time that the two superheroes are going to be paired together in a movie, Independent reported.

Batman's logo, the glowing bat, was teamed up with the Superman chest-S on a big screen during the event.

Earlier, Snyder invited an actor on stage to read a passage which hinted at the planned storyline.

The lines that Harry Lennix, who played General Swanwick in 'Man Of Steel,' read were that he wants Clark to remember that in all the years to come, in all his most private moments, he wants him to remember his hand at your throat.

The lines read that he wanted him to remember the one man who beat him.

The lines were believed to be of Batman speaking to Superman, and were meant to provide a clue to the plot.

However, the 6,000 fans inside the Comic-Con were assured that it is not going to be a straight reworking of a 'Batman vs Superman' comic book story.
