A new study has revealed that it takes an average of 25 years to understand and love one's sibling.

The survey by GettingPersonal.co.uk on adults above age 30 found that three quarters polled had a better adult relationship with their siblings and 45 per cent said they used to bicker constantly as teenagers, the Daily Express reported.

Research suggested that adults had a better relationship with their brother or sister now than they did in childhood, with 16 per cent saying they finally appreciated their sibling once they'd settled into a family of their own, or by the age of 25 mostly

Three in 10 siblings said their relationship with a sibling drastically improved when one left the family home, either for university or to live with a significant other.
