The Italian Football Association (FA) will reportedly begin investigating a match in which a club in the eighth tier of the country's football conceded eight own goals in ten minutes.
Bagheria, which failed to qualify from their group of three in regional cup competition Coppa Sicilia after they were thrashed 14-3 by Borgata Terrenove, began shipping one own goal after another even though they needed just a point to qualify from the group.
According to Metro.co.uk, the eye-catching result means that Terronove progressed to the next stage at the expense of Partinicaudace, the third team in the group, on goal difference.
Borgata coach Ignazio Chianetta said that although the game had been a real contest up to a certain point, Bagheria then staged a farce and claimed that their captain told him that they preferred Borgata to qualify rather than Partinicaudace.
Meanwhile, Partinicaudace's coach Giovanni Cammarata said that there was no agreement between them and Bagheria and hoped for the FIGC to investigate.
The Italian FA has announced that it will begin investigating the match, the report added.
