Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams have been chosen as the men's and women's world champions for 2014 by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
The Serbian star has been honoured with the award for the fourth time in his career following his terrific performance in the 2014 season, which included the Wimbledon title, the ATP World Tours finals and ending the year ranked number one.
Djokovic joined an exclusive club of stalwarts Ivan Lendi, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, who have won the honour four or more times.
On the other hand, Serena Williams also ended the season remaining number one, with winning the US Open and ATP Tour Championship, Sport24 reported.
An elated Williams said that the year was full of challenges and triumphs, adding that she was proud of winning another Grand Slam and retaining year-end number.
