United States President Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka Trump on Monday said that she is surprised by the "viciousness" of the media covering her father's presidency.

Ivanka, who is also President Trump's top adviser, said during Fox & Friends interview that her father felt "very vindicated" by former FBI Director James Comey's recent Senate testimony.

Comey had accused Trump of firing him in order to undermine the FBI's investigation of possible collusion between the Trump Campaign and Russia in alleged efforts to influence last year's presidential election.

Comey told the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee that the Trump administration had lied and defamed him and the FBI after the President dismissed him on May 9.

The more than two-hour-long testimony saw Comey informing that Trump had directed him to drop an FBI probe against former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

"My father felt vindicated in all the statements that he's been making and feels incredibly optimistic. With all the noise, with all the intensity of media coverage and obviously what makes headlines, ultimately, we're really focused on why the American people elected Donald Trump as president, Fox news quoted Ivanka as saying on Fox & Friends.

She also hailed her father's first foreign trip being the president, during which he visited Saudi Arabia, Israel and Italy.

Ivanka, who converted to Judaism before she married Trump senior aide Jared Kushner, called her father's visit to the Western Wall in Israel as an unbelievable moment.

Reacting on the growing controversy surrounding her husband's link with Russia, she said team Trump is trying to ignore the news cycle and working toward fulfilling campaign promises.
