The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday took a jibe at the Congress over speculation that it is ready to support the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir, saying the party led by Sonia Gandhi is always in search of political surrogate mother to come to power.

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said the Congress' attempt to stall the process of government formation in Jammu and Kashmir is absolutely appalling.

"The Congress as usual is in search of 'political surrogate mother' on whose lap the Congress will make itself positioned in order to see that it again comes to power through the back door. But the people of Jammu and Kashmir have rejected Congress' very idea" he added.

Patra further said BJP chief Amit Shah has made it absolutely clear that all options are open for the party to form government in the state.

"We will talk to every stakeholder of Jammu and Kashmir and we will take our decision in a way which will benefit the people of Jammu and Kashmir," he added.

Patra's comment comes in wake of reports that Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra has invited the BJP and PDP to hold discussions over government formation in the state.

The Jammu and Kashmir elections results threw a fractured mandate for the 87-member assembly with the PDP securing 28 seats while the BJP finished second with 25 seats. The NC could retain just 15 seats this time while the Congress got only 12 seats.
