Asian Games bronze medallist Chain Singh, who held a meeting with Minister of State of Science and Technology Jitendra Singh here on Friday, said the state of Jammu and Kashmir has failed to give him recognition for his achievements.
"Unfortunately, my state has neither recognized this, nor have they given me any encouragement. I would like to thank the minister for giving me time to share this. I am preparing for the 2016 Olympics now, and for that, I need support and encouragement," Chain Singh told ANI.
"I have won bronze medal in the 50m shooting event in the Incheon Asian Games. Before that, I have won gold in a shooting championship in Kuwait. In nationals, I have 21 gold, six bronze and seven silver medals," he added.
Meanwhile, Jitendra Singh assured Chain Singh that he will help in developing a shooting practice academy in Chain Singh's native village in Doda.
Jitendra Singh said, "I would like to congratulate him on behalf of Government of India and I also take pride in congratulating him as he hails from my constituency. We will undertake a trip to his village and try to indentify a piece of land where we could develop a shooting practice zone with his guidance so that many more youngsters take up the sport and healthy pursuits instead of going astray.
