Taking potshots at the BJP-led government at the Centre for not announcing elections in Delhi, Congress leader J.P. Agarwal on Sunday said the people of the state are facing a lot of problems because there is no elected government in place.

"It is BJP government in the Centre and they should have taken a decision to conduct elections in Delhi, instead they are playing around and misleading people. It should be condemned in strict terms. The people of Delhi are facing a lot of problems because there is no elected government in place," Agarwal told ANI here.

He said the government has taken a 'wrong decision' by not taking a stand on conducting fresh polls in Delhi.

"I feel that it is a wrong decision. When none of the parties have majority and situation in the city is worsening, the Central Government should have taken a stand," Agarwal said.

Responding to a poser as to why the Centre is not taking a stand on conducting elections in Delhi, he said, "The BJP is scared of elections. There were some allegations on them of trying to trade MLAs."

Earlier on Saturday, the Election Commission announced by-polls in three assembly seats in Delhi. The by-polls to three assembly seats in Delhi, which fell vacant after their MLAs resigned following their victories in the Lok Sabha elections, will be held on November 25.
