Former Karnataka chief minister Jagadish Shettar on Thursday called for an inquiry into the suicide case of a driver who had accused BJP leader and mining baron G Janardhan Reddy and a Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) officer of mentally torturing into taking this extreme step.

Shettar said, "I would like to request the state government to initiate an inquiry. Bheema Nayak's role should be investigated. Legal action, the guilty should be taken."

A man yesterday allegedly committed suicide after blaming former BJP minister and mining baron Reddy and a Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) officer of mentally torturing him.

The deceased, identified as Ramesh Gowda, was reportedly the driver of the KAS officer. He committed suicide last night in Maddur ( Mandya district ) of Karnataka.

A suicide note has also been recovered from the spot, where he was found that claimed J. Reddy had converted Rs 100 crore in black money into white. He also alleged that Reddy paid a 20 percent commission to the KAS officer, for his daughter's marriage.

Police is investigating the matter.
