A case was registered today against jailed Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Amarmani Tripathi's son, Amanmani, on charges of abduction and extorting money from a Gorakhpur-based contractor Rishi Kumar Pandey.
The incident happened last night at around 1 a.m. in Lucknow when Pandey was travelling to Delhi along with his driver, wife, daughter in law and her two kids.
Pandey was taking her ill wife to the capital's AIIMS hospital for lung treatment when Amanmani along with a man came in a Fortuner car followed by two more men in Scorpio and surrounded Pandey's car.
"They all surrounded us and took out the pistol. They abused us and forcefully grabbed me out of the car. My wife pleaded saying I am unwell but he snatched her oxygen mask saying I don't care whether you stay alive or die. They also beat my driver and then kidnapped me. Amanmani threatened me saying that I will take you to the place where my father had abducted someone for the first time and ill make you hostage there," said Pandey.
Pandey added that Amanmani took me to some place and demanded extortion money of 3 Lakh rupees.
"He threatened me saying that if you don't pay 3 Lakh rupees within three days I'll get you killed or make your life worse," he added.

Pandey also said that Amanmani abused him for once campaigning for his father's rival politician and took away his cell phone.
"My daughter in law called up the police, after which they became active and started looking for him. When Amanmani came to know about it he took me to VVIP guest house and threatened to kill my family if I complain about this, and said that my father Amarmani Tripathi has good terms with the DGP and he only appoints and removes them and you will also come to him only, after which he ran away," said Pandey.
Pandey added that he had got FIR lodged against him but he is feeling very unsafe and is even thinking of selling his house.
"Amarmani has all facilities in the prison. If he himself kills me then there will be no proof because technically he is jail but in reality his roaming freely," added Pandey.
Pandey's daughter in law told, after the incident the driver took the car very far away from the kidnapping spot but there were two policemen who helped her and after taking all the information followed the car.
Superintendent of Police from East Lucknow Rajesh Kumar said that the police is investigating the case, and on the basis of evidence required action will be taken.
"The case against Amanmani Tripathi was registered in Thana Cant by Rishi Pandey, late night on August 6. We got the information that Amanmani along with a man had kidnapped Pandey, we investigated and got to know that they are near VIP guest house, the police brought them to the police station but after coming here they told the station in charge and even gave him in writing that they knew Pandey and had gone with him to talk about something, but there was no kidnapping or misbehavior," said Kumar.
"But later they came back again in two hours with few media persons and accepted that they had kidnapped Pandey. Therefore FIR under sections 386 and 364 have been lodged and the case is being investigated, further proceedings will continue on the basis of the evidence," Kumar added.
Amarmani Tripathi is currently serving life imprisonment over the murder of poetess Madhumita Shukla.
