Rajasthan capital Jaipur is playing host to a three-day handicrafts fair, in which over 125 artists are taking part.
The fair has been organised with an aim to promote traditional Rajasthan handicrafts in domestic markets.
The venue of the fair is the Birla Auditorium.
According to the organisers, handicrafts were being exported earlier, and this resulted in the needs of the domestic market being ignored.
Chairman, Projects and Events, Forhex, Dilip Vaid, said that many young budding designers have been given an opportunity to express their creativity through this event.
"This time the exhibitors have displayed quite a new collection at the Forhex Fair. All exporters have worked very hard and brought forward a new collection based on the demand of customers. This time, many young designers have put up their booths as well," he said.
Exporters are of the view that Indian craftspersons possess great potential, if properly explored and exploited, and could help in countering recession.
