Jaipur will become the sixth city in the country with a metro, with the service expected to start operations starting today.
According to reports, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje will flag off the service at 11 am, following which the metro will be open to the general public.
The 9.63 kilometre elevated stretch will have nine stations and will connect the Mansarovar and Chandpole areas of the city and is reported to be one of the fastest built metros in the country.
The other cities in India with a metro rail facility are Kolkata, Delhi, Bengaluru, Gurgaon and Mumbai.
