With the Tamil Nadu Assembly passing a Bill unanimously replacing an ordinance to revive Jallikattu, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader K. Kavitha on Monday said that cultural traditions should be encouraged and sentiments of the people must be respected.

Kavitha also showered praise on the people of Tamil Nadu for peaceful protests in support of the bull-taming festival.

"Cultural traditions like Jallikattu or other traditions I believe they should be respected. Of course, animals and human lives are also valuable, but that doesn't mean we put up blanket ban on these traditions," she added.

"I am very glad Tamil youth, Tamil people have stood up and made sure that they are protecting their rights," she added.

The protesters withdrew their demonstrations at Chennai's Marina Beach on the seventh day of their demonstrations this afternoon following efforts by the police and many pro-Jallikattu activists who persuaded the youth to disperse as their goal has been attained by way of removing the hurdles to hold the sport.
