Union Minister of Human Resource Development Smriti Irani on Thursday exhorted the directors of Jan Shikshan Sansthans to draw a skill map of the district in which they are located.
She further urged the Jan Shikshan Sansthans to draw a specific plan for the region called 'My District - My Plan', adding that such a plan should also cover literacy requirements of non literates falling in the age group of 40 to 60 years
She said this while interacting with the directors of Jan Shikshan Sansthans (JSS) in their orientation workshop organized by National Literacy Mission Authority here.
She asked the JSS authorities to formulate their District Plan by October 1, with clear timelines for completion of various components of the plan and then it should be uploaded along with the photographs of their directors on the national portal, which will be launched by Deepawali this year.
She said that the Directors of the best performing JSSs shall be suitably awarded.
Directors of JSSs unanimously assured the Union Minister that they will do their best for formulation and implementation of their District Plan within the time suggested by her.

Stressing on the role played by JSSs in the field of adult literacy and skill development, she said that as skill requirements vary from district to district there cannot be a uniform solution for all the districts.
The Union Minister of HRD conveyed her appreciation for commendable contribution made by JSSs in mobilization of people to avail the benefits of Jan Dhan Yojana and Suraksha Bima Yojana launched by the Prime Minister.
