Reacting to reports of expelled party Janata Dal (United) leader Sabir Ali joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), JD (U) leader Ali Anwar on Friday said that the former is a businessman.
"Sabir Ali is a businessman and a businessman can take everything but loss. He invested but didn't get the returns and therefore turned to the BJP," said Ali.
Earlier in the day, Sabir Ali officially announced that he was now a part of the BJP.
"I visited Gujarat and spoke to the people there, and then came to the conclusion that whatever ill has been said about Modi was baseless. After looking at his work I decided to join the BJP. I will serve the party with complete dedication," said Ali.
Sabir Ali was expelled from JD (U) on Monday for praising BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's work.
An upset Ali who was denied a nomination to the Rajya Sabha had accused the JD-U of treating him unfairly because he was a Muslim.
He also said that smaller parties were trying to cheat Muslims in the name of secularism.
