The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Sunday said the Samajwadi Party's exhibition of "Janata family unity" on the occasion of its silver jubilee celebration has spread panic among others.
"On the occasion of the silver jubilee celebration of the Samajwadi Party, we have found a faction of the broken Samajwadi Party pledging they will contest the upcoming election together. This certainly has sent some kind of a panic wave to the other side," said NCP leader Majeed Memon.
Memon further said the coming together of all secular parties will certainly affect the percentage of votes acquired by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2014 Lok Sabha election.
On Saturday, the ruling Samajwadi Party celebrated its silver jubilee foundation day in Lucknow. It witnessed the grand attendance of the Janata family with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, former prime minister and Janata Dal (Secular) (JDS) leader H D Deve Gowda and JD (U) leader Sharad Yadav.
At the event, Akhilesh Yadav took a dig at his uncle and state party president Shivpal Yadav and said the 'sword that has been gifted to him shall definitely be used.
"Aapne mujhe talwar bhent ki hai, aur talwar doge toh chalayenge hi (You have given me the sword, obviously we would use it)," Akhilesh said.
