Jane Fonda recently revealed that her mother was sexually abused when she was a girl and eventually committed suicide.
The 76-year-old actress made this personal revelation at an event celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Rape Treatment Centre, which provides comprehensive free treatment for sexual assault victims, Stuff.co.nz reported.
The 'This is Where I Leave You' actress said that she discovered this information while she was writing her memoirs and it also helped her understand some of her mother's behaviour before her ultimate suicide when Fonda was 12.
Fonda recently hosted the Rape Foundation's annual fundraising event at billionaire Ron Burkle's Greenacres estate in Beverly Hills.
The guest list of the event included David Schwimmer, Eric McCormack, Viola Davis, Emmy Rossum and Lily Tomlin.
