Wearable and next-generation automotive technologies take center stage at the Alps Electric booth.
Alps Electric has developed a tiny gaze detection sensor designed to be built into smart glasses.
"Alps Electric supports development of this device which detects the gaze motions and blinks. It is designed to monitor user's drowsiness and fatigue while driving or working at office," said a representative from Alps Electric.
Alps introduced another prototype of wearable device - a sensor network module ring, designed to pair with many devices.
"We installed the "daily use" functions into this ring. This ring is intended for notification of incoming call or emails, it can be used as contactless Key using Bluetooth, and enables electric payment with built in NFC - Near Field Communication technology," added the representative from Alps Electric.
The Automotive Zone showcased an original vehicle cockpit equipped with a variety of modules, combining core Alps technologies such as a large-screen head-up display, driver monitoring using the vital sign sensing, control system enabled by gaze detection and simple gesture.
The component is themed for safety, comfort and peace of mind.
