Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, witnesses a major economic growth, but here exists only a few commercial establishments.
International giants like Japan's Aeon Group are foraying into the Cambodian market and it opened its first shopping mall.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida were among the dignitaries present at the event.
The Cambodian Prime Minister calls it a major investment by AEON, which shows the economic growth of Cambodia. He hopes for more advancement of Japanese investment in the country.
"AEON Group is foraying into the ASEAN region and today's opening of a new shopping mall in Cambodia has a great significance," said Nagahisa Oyama, Executive Vice President CEO ASEAN Business, AEON Co., Ltd.
Over 100,000 people visited the opening day of five-storey shopping mall in Phnom Penh and enjoyed shopping at 190 exclusive shops and a supermarket.

The mall has been built with an investment of USD 200 million.
AEON has become Asia's biggest retailer since 1989 and aims to open five shopping malls in Cambodia.
Its facilities house cinema complexes and a bowling alley.
AEON targets the middle class families in their age group of 20-30.
The mall will allow people in Cambodia to have excess to quality Japanese products, including electronics and home appliances.
"I like Japanese products. Mostly, I buy Japanese brands. This looks nice to be installed at my house," said a Customer.
Japan's Rinnai company is optimistic about capturing the Cambodian market.
"As AEON opened its new shopping mall, we also get an opportunity to meet with local retailers. We have now started selling our appliances in Cambodia. We hope to provide comfortable lifestyle to Cambodian people with our efficient Japanese technology," said Yoshikazu Tanaka, Deputy General Manager, Rinnai Corporation.

The hotels and service apartments are equipped with ultra-modern facilities like air conditioning and heating appliances.
Rapid urban expansion is presumed in Cambodia driven by its majority of young population.
The people in Cambodia trust the Japanese products which will increase with the opening of new shopping mall by AEON.
