Industrial growth largely depends on efficient supply and distribution of goods and material.

In Thailand, at an industrial park near Bangkok city, there are many companies, including some 500 from Japan. But, they did not have many choices for transportation and delivery of goods.

Sagawa Express Thai Container Distribution Service started Less Than Truckload (LTL) courier service in January 2014.

It trucks goods from customers and delivers them within a 100km radius of Bangkok.

Makato Arai, President, Sagawa Express Thai Container Distribution Services Co. Ltd., said: " Based on Sagawa Express Home Delivery service, we started a similar high-quality service to industrial houses. Just like the milk delivery business, we deliver goods to various clients in one cargo."

One of Sagawa Express' logistic bases is located about 10km from Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

The company's operation office, with a warehouse of 2016 sq meters, is located on Bang Na - Trad Highway Road, which can be conveniently accessed by industrial parks.

It is about 20 km from the Bangkok port.

Sagawa Express has been operating its business in Thailand since 2005, providing forwarding services, warehousing, customs brokerage service, courier service and land across border services.

Arai further states: " I am confident that Sagawa Express, which has attained success in providing quality logistics infrastructure services in Japan, will contribute to the economic development of Thailand."

Japanese companies are not only providing logistic support, but are also helping in building Industrial estates in many countries across Asia.

Indonesia, the world's 4th largest country in terms of population, has over 1,000 Japanese companies.

To provide better industrial infrastructure for the workforce, Japan's Daiwa House Industry Corporation joined hands with PT Bekasi Fajar Industrial Estate last year to develop an industrial estate and contribute to the regional economy.

This industrial estate is located in Cibitung Bekasi West Java, which is 25 kms from Central Jakarta and is well connected by road, air and water.

Over 150,000 people are working in some 300 companies, including 150 Japanese firms in this estate.

It has various facilities such as serviced apartments, Japanese restaurants and a mosque.

SMK Mitra Industri technical high school in the estate has some 570 students on its rolls. The school was established with donation from Japanese companies loacted in the estate.

Ryo Masuda, Chief Representative, Daiwa House Industry Co. Ltd., said: "The companies also provided technical education tools, such as machines and bikes to the school."

Refty Royan Juniarti, Teacher, SMK Mitra Industri, said: "The industry here is mostly from Japan. So, the school has been implementing the Japanese system and follows discipline. Many experts from the industry do come to teach and interact with the students."

Japanese companies are not only excelling in setting up manufacturing bases in Asia, but are also providing allied services like logistics and building the infrastructure for rapid industrial growth.
