Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday sought an explanation from the Congress Party and former prime minister Manmohan Singh over former Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) chairman Pradip Baijal's claims regarding the 2G scam.
"The Congress and the former prime minister must explain about the revelations made. Today's revelation reveals that it was coalition corruption where Congress was also a party. It was not a franchise
operation; it was a collective scam of UPA," said Javadekar.
Baijal has alleged in his book that the CBI 'harasses' civil servants and political opponents, and said that the agency, in its investigations into the 2G scam, had forced him to implicate industrialist Ratan Tata and former cabinet minister Arun Shourie if he wanted to 'save' himself.
Baijal later said his book on the 2G scam offered only that information which was already in the public domain, and added that he had merely listed the events in sequential order.
