Janata Dal-United (JD-U) general secretary Chander Raj Singhvi criticized and questioned the national stature of his leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar here today.
Blaiming Kumar for the party moving away from the NDA, he alleged that Kumar had not notified or discussed the issue about the split with state units of the JD-U.
"Our party has its presence in 21 states, did he ask anybody? He only talks of Bihar, then better form a regional party. What type of national leader is he? At times, he says that he will go with Congress.
Are we his players at the lowest level?" asked Singhvi.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) who did not seem to miss any opportunity to pinpoint JD-U's flaws after BJP-JD(U) breakup in Bihar, backed Singhvi's remark.
BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said that his party already knew that Kumar did not have a national appeal.

"There are parties who do whatever their leaders say because there is lack of democracy. Even in Janata Dal-United the word of Nitish Kumar is final. We already knew this and Singhvi understood this truth a bit
late," he said.
However, JD-U refrained from commenting on the remark made by their party member.
"Who is this leader? I have never seen him. I don't who this leader is. Nobody knows him. I have never seen his face or know him as a leader of the party," JD-U leader Ali Anwar said.
Chandraraj Singhvi, who had tendered his resignation to JD(U) president Sharad Yadav, further claimed that Nitish Kumar decided to split with the BJP on his own, calling him a 'self-centered man'.
The JD-U broke its 17-year old ties with the BJP after Narendra Modi was elevated as campaign panel chief, citing his controversial past.
