Janata Dal (United) leader Ali Anwar on Thursday said that an alliance between his party , the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress in Bihar was the need of the hour politically, as all three parties have similar socialist ideologies.

"We will win the election for all ten seats. This alliance is the need of the time. Those who do not understand the need of time, they remain in loss," he added.

The three major political parties in Bihar - JD-U, RJD and the Congress have formally sealed an alliance to contest the upcoming Assembly by-elections in the state.

Announcing the formal alliance between the three parties for the August 21 by-polls, chief of the Bihar unit of the JD-U, Vashisht Narayan Singh said, "The three parties (JDU-RJD-Congress) will fight by-polls together, and will campaign together too. We have finalised seat sharing."

The ruling JD(U) and Lalu Prasad's RJD would contest from four assembly seats each, while the Congress would contest from two in by-elections to 10 assembly constituencies in the state.

The likelihood of an alliance between the two parties had gained currency ever since the RJD supported the Jitan Ram Manjhi government on the floor of House on May 20.
