Janata Dal (United) JD (U) spokesman Pawan Verma on Monday said Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) with 'criminal' backgrounds were attempting to divide the nation.
"I am a proud Hindu, but I feel ashamed when I listen to the speeches of some BJP leaders trying to divide the people, even BJP supporter Ram Jethmalani, a former law minister in the Vajpayee Government is now against PM Modi," he said.
Jethmalani had on Sunday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi, of "cheating" the people for which he should be "punished".
"Modi has cheated the people. He must suffer a defeat (in the Bihar polls). He must be punished," he said, adding, "If I had a vote, I would today vote for Nitish Kumar, because I want Modi to suffer a defeat".
