Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush has officially announced his presidential bid for the 2016 election, striking an optimistic note by vowing to make the coming decades in the United States 'the greatest time ever to be alive in this world'.
In his campaign, Jeb, the son of former President George H. W. Bush and the brother of former President George W. Bush, chose to take the focus off his surname, which is seen by many as a political liability, and promised to "run with heart" and "take nothing and no one for granted," reported the BBC.
While addressing a gathering of supporters in his hometown of Miami, Bush hit out at President Barack Obama's immigration reforms and also spelled out his foreign policy stances by denouncing his overtures towards Cuba. He also asserted his determination to rebuild U.S's 'vital friendships,' starting with 'the brave democratic state of Israel.'
Much of his speech was dedicated towards his record as the former governor of Florida, during which the state witnessed strong economic growth.
