Veteran English actor Jeremy Irons will be cast in a lead role in a TV adaptation of Hollywood movie- 'Watchmen'.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League' star will feature in HBO's 'Watchmen pilot' --adapted from movie Watchmen.
The director of the TV adaptation, Damon Lindelof had previously watched Irons in David Cronenberg's film Dead Ringers (1988) and was thrilled to see his raw brilliance in the same.
"I was in awe of the raw brilliance of the lead actor. and his brother was just as good as he was!" Entertainment Weekly quoted Lindelof, as saying.
"I vowed then and there to one day work with at least one of them. That day is today. Irons. I am honored. Thanks for taking the watch, man," he added.
Irons, whose casting details are being kept under wraps, was recently seen playing Batman's tech-savvy butler, Alfred Pennyworth, in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.

The comic version of the story is based on the alternate future, where superheroes are more outlaws than valiant warriors.
According to Lindelof, the new Watchmen will have a "fresh and nasty and electric and absurd" feel to it.
