Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Saturday expressed distress at the loss of several lives following a detonator explosion in Madhya Pradesh.
Offering her condolences to the families of the deceased, Gandhi hoped that immediate treatment and adequate relief is being provided to the victims.
Around 82 people were killed in the blast, which took place at a hotel in Madhya Pradesh's Jhabua district earlier this morning.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the loss of lives due to the cylinder blast.
"Extremely pained at the loss of lives due to the cylinder blast in Jhabua. My deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. I wish all those injured a speedy recovery. MP Govt. is monitoring the situation closely", the Prime Minister said.
