Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Sunday requested the Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry to issue a directive to ensure no hostels get closed in the educational institutions as travel is not possible due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Some of the students hailing from Jharkhand are studying in Jamia Millia Islamia University in the national capital wrote to the Jharkhand Chief Minister requesting assistance. This was after the university administration ordered the closure of hostels in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Separately, Chief Minister Soren requested the residents of Jharkhand to stay safe in the confines of their homes to ward off the coronavirus challenge.
The number of coronavirus positive patients in India rose to 341 on Sunday, as per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
