More than 5,000 villagers residing in Jharkhand's Serandag village are facing problem in availing medical facilities after the Naxals sabotaged the health care centre three years ago. The nearest medical centre is situated 20-25 kilometres away.
Notably, in 2012, security personnel used to take shelter inside the medical centre here. Later in 2013 the Naxals got to know about the hideout and they set-off an explosion at the Medical centre.
Following the incident, the Centre had directed the local authorities to built a new medical centre, but the construction of the same is still pending.
In 2012, in an attempt to provide basic health care to the rural poors, the Ministry of Health rolled out a plan under which they constructed multiple medical centres not only in Serandag village but also in its neighbouring areas.
