New Delhi, Aug 22 (ANI): Taking cue from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' initiative, Jivi Mobiles, a mobile division of Magicon Impex Pvt Ltd, has strengthened its presence by setting up a manufacturing unit in Delhi.
Jivi Mobile's first factory is built on an area of 16000 sq. ft. which would cater to north and east India.
The first facility has an installed capacity of manufacturing seven lakh phones per month with the current man power of more than 300 employees.
The company has eight operational assembly lines that manufacture feature phones, battery, chargers and hands free in India. The aim is to cut the cost on import duty which is 12.5% currently.
"It gives us great pleasure to accomplish what we had aimed for in phase I. Team Jivi looks forward on serving the North and Eastern markets in India. The facility in Mahipalpur has one of the best setups in mobile manufacturing with high tech equipments and automated process. This investment of Rs 200 cr. in our manufacturing units would have a capacity to generate employment for nearly 1000 skilled workers over a period of time," said Pankaj Anand, CEO, Jivi Mobiles.

Speaking to ANI, Anand said that the company's primary focus would be to manufacture feature phones.
He, however, added the company will start manufacturing smartphones in the upcoming Diwali.
He also said that recent announcement by the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of increasing the minimum wages to Rs. 14,500 will adversely impact the mobile phone industry.
Second facility of Jivi Mobiles which is located in Lonavala, Maharashtra to cater to the south and western parts of the country, would be operational in the coming months.
The company offers affordable feature phones starting at the price range of Rs. 699 to Rs. 1199.
