An infiltration bid was foiled by the alert Indian Army troops in the densely forested area along Line of Control (LC) in Poonch sector today morning.
On noticing some suspicious activity, the alert troops deployed along the LC challenged a group of two-three infiltrators who were attempting to cross the LC.
The group immediately opened fire which was responded to in equal measure by the alert troops, forcing the group to flee back.
Last week, BSF troops foiled a major infiltration bid by a group of six militants after a heavy fire-fight using rocket propelled grenades along the International Border in Kathua district.
Earlier today, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti called on Pakistan to stop cross-border infiltration to create an environment conducive for peace talks.
Pakistan has to understand that the two countries share the border and to bring peace in the region, start a dialogue, the infiltration must stop," Mehbooba said.
